You're a Mean One, Mr. Clemens.......
Every Student at Naylor liked Christmas a lot
But the Clemens who taught Civics most certainly did not
The Clemens hated Christmas! The whole Christmas Season.
Whenever someone asked, he’d give them a reason!
“Those silly students always mess up the season! They don’t deserve any holiday pleasin’!
They don’t deserve presents under their trees! I’ve seen their scores on their CMTs!”

Whenever someone asked, he’d give them a reason!
“Those silly students always mess up the season! They don’t deserve any holiday pleasin’!
They don’t deserve presents under their trees! I’ve seen their scores on their CMTs!”
He stood there watching the students with a glare
As if hoping one of them would dare
To cut his class before is eyes
He would give them a holiday surprise!
He would give them extra homework and extra chores!
He would find a way to up those test scores!
As if hoping one of them would dare

He would give them a holiday surprise!
He would give them extra homework and extra chores!
He would find a way to up those test scores!
“I must get them to study,” he cried, “But how? But how?”
Then he creased his Clemensy brow.
“Eureka!” he cried, “I’ve discovered the trick!
I’ve got to disguise myself as good old ST. Nick!”
He put reindeer horns on Chelsea his dog.
He made a sleigh out of a cut up log.
Clemens was ready for his dastardly plan.
He would raise those scores of every woman and man!
He raced into Hartford with the utmost of care
He didn’t want to give any of his students a scare.

He flew down their chimneys right into the flue
That Mr. Clemens knew what to do.
He took all the cookies, the milk and presents,
He did not want to leave them anything pleasents.
So he made sure that he got every last one.
In their place he left text books, study gudies
and logins to Test Prep Fun.
He even took the students’ Christmas tree
and left them an abacus for all to see.
He took it all back to his classroom and there it would stay
Never to see the light of Christmas day.

Then something happened that he’d never expect
Something that left all his plans in a wreck.
A troubling student gave him a gift
And to his surprise it gave his spirit a lift!
This is something that had never happened before
Usually they grumbled as they walked past his door.
Something that left all his plans in a wreck.
A troubling student gave him a gift

Suddenly Clemens felt something in his chest
That had nothing to do with a standardized test.
He now saw students in a whole new light
Something incredible had happened this night.
He realized that all the students who trouble us
And all the ones we adore
A child is most certainly more than a test score!
